We like summer and we like parties so we decided to celebrate the summer by throwing a party. Unfortunately the weather threw a hissy fit and the sun stormed off in a huff leaving us to contend with the unrelenting downpour of that particular summers day. However someone had the foresight to organise our little bash indoors, which would take the form of a “surreal” and “alternative” good old game of bingo.

There where some ace prizes ranging from an inflatable sumo suit to a salad spinner and pretty much every one went home with something.

Halfway through the proceedings, Kev hosted a little quiz with embarrassing facts about all good folk that work here. There where some very surprising secrets divulged that night.

The Kindness Offensive wants you

Kirsten “The Feeder” Rutherford belongs to a group called the Kindness Offensive who are a charity that commit random acts of kindness. Refusing donations from individuals whilst instead getting stuff from corporations for anyone in the need of a little lift.

In the past they have delivered 25 tonnes of groceries to refugees and people on the poverty line in London and one Christmas they gave away 35 tonnes of pressies to sick kids in London hospitals as well as distributing them to everyday folk by knocking on people’s doors.

What a bunch of good eggs, Im sure you’ll agree.

So here’s the thing, the White Stuff clothing is giving away a silver Routemaster bus to a registered charity and Kirsten wants to try to win the bus with a petition. Have a look on their website and if you like the cut of their jib then sign the petion and keep your fingers crossed.

So it was V Fest last weekend and it was a lot of fun. The sun was shinning, people where frolicking, music was played and Kelly Jones signed a five-foot Teenage Cancer Trust beach ball before booting it into the audience. He also dedicated Have A Nice Day to Teenage Cancer Trust. Massive name drop there from the Stereophonics. Cheers boys.

I hope this has inspired people to do their own name drops. Get out there and get doing it.

Happiness Shrine Update

Kirsty recently popped over to La Garde-Freinet for a short break and returned with a strange glowing angel to add to our ever growing shrine while Kev brought back a snow globe from Alicante of all places. I’m not sure why you would want to make a snow globe of Alicante but it perfectly fits the irreverent nature of the shrine.

Streetmuseum update…

So our rather good app (100,000 downloads and counting) was on the telly yesterday, BBC News no less. The success of Streetmuseum has really snowballed. We think that the reason why Streetmuseum is so compelling lies in the true interactivity of the app combined with the juxtaposition of new vs old London. It has really captured the imagination of our audience and garnered great coverage in major press such as Metro and Time Out London. If you have been living in the dark ages and still don’t have this nifty little app then I suggest you head over to the shop section on our new website and get downloading.

In this weeks Campaign our awesome ad got an honorable mention. Critiqued against 4 other strong ad campaigns it was stated that “Brothers and Sisters’ idea and technical execution are both exceptional” as well as mentioning that “every second of the ad is a reminder of Sky’s dominance of the segment.”

Nice to know that others find our work exceptional.

All you vinyl-philes out there would have been both appalled and delighted by the scene that struck me outside Harold Moores Records today. Quite literally a skip full to the brim of old vinyl surrounded by a plethora of punters, elbows out, grabbing and snatching their way through the mountain of obscure Russian folk, Italian opera, random movie soundtracks, as well as the usual classical stuff.

Undeterred by the melee that was in full swing I decided to get involved. Some time later I emerged with 19 jazz records ranging from the obscure to the probably not very good and one sleeveless Freddie Hubbard EP. The skip proved to be the gift that kept on giving as the good people of the aforementioned record shop kept topping up the skip. Among the punters and the die-hard cratediggers I spotted a couple of enterprising young crackheads who will no doubt try to unload their spoils at the Record Exchange on Berwick Street later today.
