(not) too cool for school

They don’t hang about in Mali. Fresh from our fundraiser at Notting Hill Arts Club back in April, we flew out to Bamako to see how our friends at ADCE were progressing with the new office.

Three days of painting, rebuilding the internet and visiting our friends in Kola and we’d agreed that the next best use of money was to invest in a new classroom for the children of Kola.

Previous to our visits in October and April, they had two classrooms with six children sat to a bench. They should only take three. Not comfy.

Four months later and they have shiny new benches and they’ve begun to build the third classroom. Good times.

You can see the local men in the village digging the foundations in these pics and the final building taking shape next door. It’s almost a campus!

It’s been fantastic to give them the cash to take control of this build themselves and see them taking charge of their own children’s futures. We’ll be heading back later in the year to see them all again and give the ADCE massive some technical love in the main office.

On that note, you’ll be delighted to know we’re having another beano on October 22nd.
