Shiver me timbers

Avast me hearties and behold the good ship Museum Of London. To celebrate the new major exhibition at the Museum of London Docklands we converted a taxi into a pirate ship, with a real pirate and everything. The exhibition follows the true story of the infamous Captain Kidd, who met his end at Wapping¹s Execution Dock after he was wrongly accused of being a bona fide pirate. The exhibition is on at the museum and you can read about his swash-buckling bother on this internet page.

Nice weekend for a handbag hunt

Our lovely friends at Impulse have collaborated with their buddies at Barry M to celebrate the launch of their new fragrance Very Pink by creating a special pack containing a body spray and some super-glossy lip-gloss.

In conjunction with this, we’ve created an experiential and digital campaign to help shout about it. What’s in your handbag? It’s pretty self explanatory, really.

Every day, for 4 weeks we asked Facebook fans of Impulse to send in pictures of their handbags’ contents.

A strange world indeed. I think the majority of men are unaware of the Marry Poppins/Tardis like qualities of most women’s handbags. The most interesting were rewarded with a plethora of Barry M products.

The Handbag Hunt has been a success too. For two weeks, we’ve planted designer handbags in 10 Superdrug stores. Clues to their whereabouts were revealed via The Impulse Diaries on Facebook and the Barry M Lookz iPhone and Blackberry application.

Our intrepid explorers were then able to track down the selected stores. And armed with a secret code, the first person to get there won a brand new designer bag. Which made for some very happy customers, as you can see below.

The campaign will run for a further fortnight, where another 20 handbags are up for grabs.

Interesting new stuff

Everybody remembers that interactive music video for Arcade Fire’s “The Wilderness Downtown” don’t they. Impressive stuff.

Well the guy behind it, Chris Milk has created another video for Danger Mouse’s new project; 3 Dreams Of Black. Chris designed the film with Google Creative Lab’s Aaron Koblin to offer a video-game-like experience. The idea is to show off Google Chrome’s “under the hood technology”. The clever bit is that this music video isn’t just video playback but “real time rendering of digital models,” which according to Google means; “WebGL essentially transforms your browser into an open-source video game console.” Which is where the real excitement lies because the type of content you can expect to see on the web will be drastically different from what you would normally expect. For example, you will be able to stream “dynamic real time graphics, audio and multimedia” together, in one space. Which really opens up the possibilities to create truly interactive experiences not only changing music videos but also potentially changing the way we interact with the web.

If you fancy a go make sure you use Google Chrome, otherwise your computer might not forgive you.

Save the date

The next night in our irregular yet highly comical spoken word night will be  hosted on the 9th of June and will kick off at around 7pm. So what better way to enjoy a beautiful summers evening than by having a few cheeky drinks and listening to some witty raconteurs.
This time the question we are posing to our gifted speakers is: ‘What would your perfect day look like?’

We will announce the speakers and venue soon, in the meantime why not have a peek at our facebook page.

Pot Luck lunch

Every 6 weeks or so we like to have a big family lunch. Its a nice way to all catch up and show off our culinary skills to one another. Unless of course you are Will and Aaron, then you will by a KFC family bucket. And even though its been a busy week most people got involved.
Particular highlights where Lolly’s jerk chicken, Laura’s Spanish tortilla and Dannie’s brownies and all polished of with Phoebe’s amazing home made lemonade.

more Believe in better

Some more cracking work (even if we do say so ourselves) for Sky’s Better Effect campaign.
First up is the ad celebrating 50 channels in high definition. Yes 50. I remember the days when we only had 3 channels and that was SD, you lucky people you. Swiftly following that Better Effect is the super cool price freeze.
Again massive thanks to Neon for the animation/magic and a big round of applause for Olly, Sam, Mark, Pat and Tracy for their hard graft. Fine work, we salute you.

Digital megababes Jules and Helen R are double trouble in double denim. This is not the first occurrence of identical outfits either.

Webby webby win win

Yep that’s right. We won the ‘Peoples Voice’ award for Streetmuseum, which means that you, the beautiful people of the world wide web, love it. And we are very grateful to you for voting. If you don’t know, the Webby awards are like the digital Oscars, so its a pretty amazing thing to win. We are very proud of Streetmuseum and how well it has been received by award judges and public alike. The award ceremony is in June so will update with pics when we’re back from that.

Go team.
